Capella Bar & Cigar Lounge in Dusseldorf

Far too often have bars started drifting from what makes a bar great. That is sticking to the basics and offering a memorable experience. Capella hits the nail on the head with superb bartending and a captivating lounge. A quickly shaken dirty martini, frosted glass, and salty/spicy finger foods. The staple of what I choose to drink when I first enter a bar and what will be the deciding factor if I stay or not. I am pleased to say that I will drink until my hearts content at this bar with the service provided. Thank you Capella Bar & Lounge for the great service. TLDR: If you want well tequila and loud top 40s music in the background then this bar is NOT FOR YOU.

Fantastic ambience, very attentive staff and good drinks.

I do not smoke, but cocktails here are a masterpiece! Everything I have tried so far was delicious and unique. Furthermore, the service is simply fantastic: the waiters are attentive, polite, friendly, but not too intrusive. Very much recommended!

Nice selection of whiskeys, cocktails, gins and cigars. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. We especially praise the barman, he gave excellent advice and tips, thanks for that.

The service here could be a bit better for the outward demands, but the atmosphere in the bar is already very appealing, in the smoker's lounge it can sometimes go very loud at an advanced hour, you will not understand your own word anymore

That's really big movie! The atmosphere is very special, the cocktails are high priced, but worth every penny! It's just an experience - the bar, the service, live piano etc etc ... In my eyes, the best bar in Germany - has to share the first place only with the bar from the Ritz in Berlin. CHEERS

there is no big flash of cigar ... but the place, the drink, the server very much !! it's strange that the pincer can not bring the drink into the cigar room ... it's in the door ... the place is decorated with genius ... how are you going to make yourself drink it ... 😉

The Capella Bar & Cigar Lounge is located on the first floor of the Breidenbacher Hof and is a rather small but fine cocktail bar with a separate cigar lounge. Personally, I didn't like the interior of the cocktail bar that much because it is rather pompous. The Cigar Lounge, on the other hand, was more my thing in terms of taste. Slightly darker light, cozy lounge chairs and elegant leather floors. There is also a nice humidor in the room with a large selection of cigars. The waitress is also very good at advising you if you are not very familiar with cigars. Suitable drinks and cocktails are also available, but they are not brought to you at the seat, for legal reasons. In terms of taste, the cocktails are very good and everyone will find something for their taste with the cigars. In terms of price, of course, it is upscale to match the Breidenbacher Hof and for most people not the location for every day. But you can go there to treat yourself to something.

This rating is only meant for the Capella Bar & Cigar Lounge (should have its own facebookpage like in some 5 stars hotels by the way). Some friends and myself visit the bar every 2 months when we're in Düsseldorf and i can truly say i don't know one bar where the gap between national/international recognition/fame and the quality & creativity of the Drinks and menu is so big. Most people even within the mixology world were never here or didn't even hear of it in specific while the mixology and service here is some of the best in Germany. Its one of the two best hotel bars (Ritz in Berlin with the Curtain Club and Fragrances being the other one) in Germany and in the top 10 worldwide (and i've visited quite a lot until now) for me. Of course you have all the benefits of the hotels resources like in every hotel bar but while they could be satisfied with that and lay back they chose to create new menues every 5-6 months in my experience, always having a new twist in it and great artwork like right now with the movie classics theme. The presentation as well as the composition of the drinks is superb, also the number of signatures is spot on (not too many but more than enough). Big compliment to the bar chef! The only critique i can think of is a) get maybe 2 or 3 drinks with a little more of an experimental site to them into the menu, right now they are great but you have nothing where even mixology fans would think "What, this will never work", it's great to be suprised about that it indeed can sometimes work out what you read in the menu and b) the "Tiffany's" drink is a bit more watery than really creamy what puts the more bitter-watery aromas of the coffee in front, that's at least what a friend and myself thought. I'll never stop recommending this bar to every friend who travels to DD.
